This course covers the theory and practice of controlling dynamic systems with digital computers, from sampling and the Shannon–Nyquist theorem through discretization methods (Forward Euler, Backward Euler, Tustin, ZOH-equivalent) and z-domain stability analysis. Students learn to interpret discrete-time pole locations in terms of stability and performance, and apply this to the design and real-time implementation of digital PID and state-feedback controllers.
