This module introduces first-year medical students to the foundational stages of human development. It begins with gametogenesis, covering both spermatogenesis and oogenesis, and follows the key events of early embryonic development through the first four weeks after fertilization. The course also explores the formation and function of the embryonic annexes, such as the amnion, yolk sac, chorion, and placenta. These concepts provide essential knowledge for understanding normal development and the origins of congenital anomalies.
