The course is about the turning points in American History and an attempt to help students understand the issues the USA struggled with to establish its hegemonic power. It considers the student's critical thinking on issues as delicate as foreign policy and Civil Rights. 

This course is primarily oriented towards Master One students at the department of English, M’Hamed Bougara University. It aims at introducing reading and writing techniques as well methods oriented to prepare students for writing a research project in English literature.
